Update Sepember 16, 2026: We changed the name back to Faolan II just because it suits him better after all.

 

While the breeder world seems to be going ballistic over Maine Coons with a very high Silver content, I try not to prioritize colour over conformation. We used to get these "fancy class" Maine Coons here already decades ago but but then the colour got lost somehow through selective breeding. Ackwolf is the first of his kind born in my Cattery worth keeping - probably since a cat named "Prairiepaws'n Songs For Grace", born in 2005.

Faolan II comes from a healthy group of 3 brothers, born to  "Caracal", sired by "Faolan". For the a period of time we called him "Faolan II" because he looked so much like his daddy! It is Irish for Wolf and a majestic name for a majestic Maine Coon.  Faolan's pedigree contains lines from the old Cattery by about 50 %, combined with some wonderful cats that were added by Allegiancelove Cattery in Bulgaria.

Being a staunch Brown Tabby lover, I have now come to appreciate the eye candy factor of Faolan's appearance. Just watching him run and jump kind of does take my breath away :-). His strengths are body shape, a flowing sterling silver coat, combined with a correct head, great size and boning and abnoctiously affectionate tempermant. I am also a fan of his eye shape (when he decides to open them :-0) - and size, despite the rather feral look.

 

Sadly we don't have a lot of girls that can be bred to Faolan at this time. This means he likely won't be on duty here for a long time.  The plan for this fall is to make some quality babies with the same mesmorizing colour! There is a chance he might Faolan might be moving to a colleague of mine afterwards where he can enter his first TICA show in January.
